Accessing psychological therapy should be as normal as going to the gym or getting a haircut. Taking care of our health, especially our mental health, is an imperative. Psychological therapy is a way to have an informed conversation marked by curiosity, understanding and respect with a trained professional. The capacity to create a healing relationship is of utmost importance. My approach is compassionate, caring and curious. I am continually developing my practice and take a holistic approach with an understanding of the complexity and challenges of everyday life.

I am passionate about helping clients recognise their inner strengths and resources so that they can find renewed energy and hope. I strive to provide a welcoming and empathetic environment in which there is also space for humour and creativity. I have a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from Glasgow Caledonian University. I am a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society as well
as registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

I have extensive experience working with children, young adults (in particular students), adults and older adults who experience emotional difficulties. I also have experience running mindfulness based cognitive behavioural therapy and stress management courses.
I have worked within local authorities, universities and schools and currently work as a Psychologist for the Maggie's Centre in Dundee, providing specialist treatments to individuals, couples and groups.
I'm currently enlisted on the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors and have undertaken courses in: Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Teacher Training and BPS Supervision.

Therapies
Psychological therapy can help you overcome challenges and enhance your life.
I am trained to deliver the following therapies:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Involves identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking that contributes to unnecessary distress and poor habits. By changing problematic thoughts and behaviours, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) has been shown to be effective in the treatment of many mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
This approach is designed to help people regulate their emotions and improve their interpersonal skills by learning about the triggers that lead to reactive states and helping to assess which coping skills to apply. Initially used to treat Borderline Personality Disorders, DBT is effective with mood disorders, addictions and other psycho-social difficulties.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
The aim of ACT is to maximise human potential for a rich, full and meaningful life by learning to accept what is outside of your personal control, and committing to action that improves and enriches your life. An effective component of ACT is the practice of mindfulness and the identification of values and goals.
Schema Therapy
Is an integrative approach to treatment that is used to treat presentations caused by difficult childhood experiences and trauma. Schema Therapy's mode work is a compassionate and effective way to treat a number of chronic conditions by replacing maladaptive coping styles and helping individuals meet basic emotional needs.
Solution Focused Therapy
Solution Focused Therapy is a brief, goal oriented approach that places the focus of treatment on the future. Although it acknowledges present problems and past causes, it predominantly explores an individual's current resources and future hopes. This can help them to look forward and use their own strengths to achieve their goals.
